4 More Test Positive For COVID-19 UK Strain In India, Tally Reaches 29

The Indian Health Ministry announced that a total of 29 people have now tested positive for the new UK COVID-19 strain. Among them, 20 people were found positive on Tuesday and Wednesday. Eight of these cases were detected in NCDC, Delhi while three were detected in CCMB, Hyderabad.
The new strain which is said to spread 70% faster was first detected in September and confirmed by British authorities in December. As a precautionary measure, India has temporarily banned all flights from the UK till January 7. Several Indian states have also announced night curfews and other restrictions in view of the new strain.
