New Zealand Records First COVID-19 Cases In 102 Days

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern addressed New Zealanders at a sudden late-night press conference on Tuesday, where she confirmed four new cases of COVID-19 had been detected in Auckland. She announced that Level 3 restrictions will be introduced in Auckland, while the rest of the country will go into Level 2 lockdown.
“After 102 days, we have our first cases of Covid-19 outside of managed isolation or quarantine facilities. While we have all worked incredibly hard to prevent this scenario, we have also planned and prepared for it”, she said.
