US Election Result May Not Be Known For Days After November 3

The results of the US Presidential Election may not be known on November 3rd unless one side secures a landslide victory. The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) allowed Pennsylvania, a battleground state, to count received mail-in ballots up to three days after the election. Similarly, the court allowed for counting ballots in North Carolina received up to nine days after the election day.
There is nothing in the law or the US Constitution that calls for results on election night. It is also important to note that both Pennsylvania and North Carolina account for 35 electoral votes. Therefore, the results of the polls will probably not be known on November 3rd. Many experts in the US fear that there may be days of civil unrest and even gun violence as both sides may claim premature election victory.
